Nintendo 3DS YouTube app can be used to hack the console


Nintendo's 3DS remains region locked, something that has led to a back and forth between hackers creating workarounds and Nintendo then closing them. While that's mostly involved removing content enabling exploits from its digital eShop storefront, a new hack using the offical YouTube app could prove the biggest challenge yet.

Coder Jordan "smealum" Rabet revealed the exploit via Twitter, showing the hack as fully operational. Beyond providing a way to play games purchased in regions other than your own, it will also allow anyone choosing to use it to create their own custom 3DS "desktop" themes.
