New hydrogen discovery could make room-temperature superconductors a reality

Researchers from the University of Edinburgh crushed hydrogen atoms with a diamond anvil to see what hydrogen does when you put it under pressures like those found at the core of gas giants. Their result? A strange and eldritch phase of matter: hydrogen V.
