'My Little Pony' creator designs fan-made spin-off fighting game

Three things that are magic: friendship, ponies, and fighting games. In March 2013, indie developers Mane 6 released Fighting is Magic, a 2D brawler featuring characters from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Despite being made and released on a not-for-profit basis, with any proceeds going to breast cancer charities, Hasbro issued a cease and desist.

Legally, it was well within Hasbro's rights to do so but the Grinch-like move displeased creator Lauren Faust, who had revitalised the pastel-coloured ponies and was central to the series' success. Getting directly involved, Faust and Mane 6 are now crowdfunding Them's Fightin' Herds, a puntastically-named new game where players can clobber colts and fight fillies without anyone having to worry about lawsuits.
