Donkey Kong high score world record beaten twice in six hours


Donkey Kong is one of gaming's oldest hit titles, first landing in arcades in 1981. Since then, racking up a high score on the primitive single-player platformer has become an unlikely competitive sport, with players trying to best each others' barrel-jumping, ladder-climbing skills.

Often, years go by between records being set, but at the most recent Donkey Kong Online Open, it was smashed twice in the space of six hours.
