Vote to rename planets after Moomins and Japanese wrestlers


Official names for star systems and planetary bodies -- such as PSR B1620-26 b -- aren't exactly known for tripping off the tongue. But now the International Astronomical Union (IAU) is looking to change all that, by allowing you to vote on the names of 20 planetary systems.

After accepting nominations from a range of astronomical societies, the IAU has narrowed the selections down and opened them up to a public vote -- and the eclectic range offers more than a few truly "out there" choices.
