While drones are gaining in popularity among human beings, they are proving distinctly unpopular with bears. So says a study published by researchers at the University of Minnesota, who tested the effects of unmanned aerial vehicles on both the behaviour and physiology of free-roaming American black bears.
The first question that might occur is why researchers would bother bears with drones in the first place. In their study they explain that: "with the widespread increase in UAV flights, it is critical to understand whether UAVs act as stressors to wildlife and to quantify that impact".
