140 years of tech has created more jobs than it has destroyed


Technology has created more jobs than it has destroyed, the largest-scale study into the impact of advanced machines in the workplace has determined.

The study by consultants at Deloitte looked at the impact of technology on the economy of work between 1871 and 2011. The research, as reported by the Guardian, finds that technology has broadly been a "job-creating machine" -- and that each development has not directly replaced human workers without finding new jobs for them.
