Facebook tracks all site vistors, violating EU law, report says

Facebook tracks everyone who visits its site, including people who don’t have an account, and even continues to track users and non-users who have opted out of targeted ads, researchers at two Belgian universities have found.

Researchers at the University of Leuven in cooperation with researchers at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel have published an update to a February analysis of Facebook’s new policies and terms. The report, commissioned by the Belgian Privacy Commission, already found in preliminary conclusions in February that Facebook, with its 2015 privacy policy update, likely acts in violation of European law.

Earlier this month, there was a rumor that Apple was going to extend its trade-in program to include non-Apple devices. Now it is official. Apple will let you trade in Android, BlackBerry or Windows Phone smartphones in exchange for credit towards an iPhone in the U.S., UK, Canada, Germany, France and Italy, according to Apple’s retail store website. The trade-in program is limited to several smartphone models made by Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony, BlackBerry and Nokia. The credit value of your trade-in device depends on the age and condition. You can also trade in your PC for credit towards a new Mac. The timing of happens to coincide with the launch of Samsung’s new flagship smartphones. Samsung will be launching the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge around the world on April 10th. This means Apple may be able to convince consumers to upgrade to an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus from their Samsung Galaxy S5 instead of a Samsung Galaxy S6. The Reuse and Recycling program is accessible online and at Apple’s retail stores.
