Spring Lake!

SPRING LAKE — Parts of Spring Lake’s boardwalk were damaged during the storm surge produced by Hurricane Irene last night and this morning. The surge also flooded Wreck Pond, which spilled into Shore Road in Spring Lake Heights and reached the homes of residents.

Spring Lake mayor Jennifer Naughton said the good news is the town had no reports of injuries or deaths caused by Irene.

“Most of our residents took the warnings and left town. We’re grateful of that,”
